Company History
AccuDx is a San Diego, California Biotechnology Company focusing on research and development of molecular diagnostic technologies, devices and systems. Raveendran (“Ravi”) Pottathil, Ph.D. founded AccuDx in 1996. He is the inventor of dtPCR™ and a highly respected scientist with an outstanding record of success developing innovative and commercially successful products having led the development of the highly successful Roche Amplicor® PCR diagnostic kits among other achievements. He is a recognized expert in molecular diagnostics and has been an industry expert invited to the WHO’s PCR Standardization Committee. Up until now, AccuDx’s R&D has been funded internally and through collaborations with world-renowned companies and institutions such as Hoffman-La Roche, Sarnoff Institute, LabCorp, Spectral Diagnostics, Burstein Institute, Heska Diagnostics BD-PharMingen and Clontech. AccuDx Incorporated began as a diagnostic product development and manufacturing company that manufactured and sold products in addition to research and development services to its customers. The business provided healthcare professionals with clinical diagnostic tools in the form of in vitro diagnostic test kits to detect, identify, diagnose and monitor diseases in their patients. AccuDx manufactured and sold point of care and other immunoassays for infectious disease, cancer, cardiac and other diseases to distributors world-wide.
Platform Technologies
Disruptive technologies to meet unmet market needs.
TECHNOLOGIES
Nano Technology Platform
Leveraging tiny sizes for towering performance
Nanotechnology is branch of science that deals with dimensions of less than 100 nanometers. As it relates to materials science, applied to the healthcare domain, it has potential to greatly impact Drug Delivery, Imaging & Diagnostics, Tumor Targeting, and Therapeutics.
Diagnostic Platform
Making diagnosis simpler, faster, and more accurate.
Point-of-care diagnostics is a field just beginning to hit its stride, according to many in the industry. Advances in microfluidics, lab-on-a-chip methodologies, miniaturization of testing methods and improvements in detection technologies are leading the way.
Algae to high value products
Sustainable sources for significant impact
Identifying and developing Sustainable Sources for critical ingredients for health, nutrition, feed, food and agriculture industries
Sustainable Agriculture
Agriculture
Sustainable Agriculture
AccuDx has leveraged its expertise in two of its core platform technologies i.e. micro algae and nano technologies to develop novel agricultural inputs for sustainable agriculture.
- Current agricultural challenges include loss of productivity due to climate changes and biotic stresses
- Unmet needs include sustainable agriculture utilizing Sustainable Agriculture inputs such as Priming, bio stimulants, Nano technologies, Post-harvest Technologies and Integrated pest management
- We have either developed or have access to these tools.
- Collaboration with our Indian counterparts bring these to the Asian region.
Novel Formulations
- All of the current priming agents are known to protect the plants from future biotic and abiotic stress
- We have developed a number of formulations that can be used to treat the infected plants.
- These elicitors have been shown to abrogate bacterial. Fungal and viral infections
- The mechanism of action is through an accelerated activation of innate immunity
- The following examples validate our claims
Chemically defined elicitors have shown curative responses to plant disease in multiple field trials:
- Citrus Greening (Oranges)
- Fungal Diseases Mitigation - Collar Rot (Pigeon Peas)
- Bacterial Blight (Pomegranates)
- Bacterial Infection Control
- Viral Diseases Mitigation – Papaya
- Climate Changes - Abiotic stress
- Molecular Mechanism – Linkage Map based on gene expression
- Nano Priming - Bio stimulation and stress resistant traits
Partners & Collaborators
COLLABORATORS
The following is the description of current projects. Earlier projects are mentioned in patents, publications, and CVs of team members.
The AccuDx team comes up with scientific ideas and carries out basic scientific feasibility studies. Once the idea shows potential to service unmet market needs and high societal impact, AccuDx works with partners and collaborators to develop it further.
While AccuDx focuses on the science part of a project, technology and engineering is accomplished in a distributed manner. This strategy leverages talent and resources for greater good as the time, energy and effort required in prefeasibility studies is invested by AccuDx, The minimizes risk for partners and collaborators as only ideas that have passed the PoC are shared for development.
